STEPHEN F. DEANTONIO: Defamation is a false injurious statement about somebody that's communicated to other third parties. Defamation can have serious consequences. It can affect a person's family relationships. It can affect their personal relationships. It can affect their employment relationships. It can affect their professional standing in their community. It has tremendous effect on people. I'm passionate about these cases because I have the opportunity to restore somebody's reputation. Now there is a level of discourse in our society right now that is very harsh. I'd like to do my part in tempering that discourse to make it more civil. And I feel that I have a small role in making people pay for hurtful, false information that's out there.
